Not a great laptop, but I'm satisfy with it considering the price. The laptop is light weight (thanks to the plastic, of course). The spec is not bad and everything works fine. In addition, the laptop runs quietly.
Some obvious problems:
- The screen has poor display quality, and very limited vertical view angle.
- The touchpad feels strange: the sensitivity varies a lot from time to time. Could be a software issue.
- The keyboard size is ok, but the typing experience isn't very good.
- According to information on the internet, very difficult to upgrade, especially the RAM.
In all, it is a good budget laptop, but don't expect too much from it.

This review is from: Asus X401A 14-inch Laptop (Blue) - (Intel Celeron B830 1.8GHz Processor, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, LAN, WLAN, BT, Webcam, Integrated Graphics, Windows 8) (Personal Computers)
First of all, this laptop is not terrible in any way but it's also not very good.Everything on the laptop is made out of (pretty flimsy) plastic and it has a cheap
feel to it. The keyboard is spongy and if you are used to a quality keyboard it's
not a very pleasant experience typing on it. The trackpad works OK, better than
the keyboard even though I did experience some twitching pointer motion.
If you are planning to use it a lot you might want to get a mouse for it (just
remember that this laptop does not come with Bluetooth).
The display is OK and battery life is not bad either. It's pretty light (Yay for plastic!)
If your budget is limited then this laptop is a decent choice and you're just
looking to do some light productivity work (and perhaps watch some movies).

This windows 8 Asus X401A arrived, in Spain, very quickly and before the projected delivery date. It was opened by my Grandaughter on her birthday on 16 Dec and she started grappling with the new windows technology.....the first in her form to experience it.on the third day, the screen pixelation dissolved leaving a 'modern art image'. we connected the laptop to a second monitor and it seemed to function normally. This particular model was chosen for size and price......maybe we were just unlucky? It has been returned to Amazon. What Other Items Do Customers Buy After Viewing This Item?
