my main concern when i got this was the must have good speakers and an OK screen.. i got this with ziio BUT that was it.. unresponsive sometimes, stuck in a dead android version (it didnt get any kind of post sale support or updates from creative other than flash) and with the ram that just wasnt enough..

Dont kid yourself , if u need it, spend the extra cash and get a nexus7, kindle fire hd .. bigger go for tab 10.1 , nexus 10 or note 10.1 !

I bought this a year ago, and its still good. Playing music files is probably its strength. The screen resolution is okay, but resistive touch so not a sensitive as more modern tablets. I put a Samsung 16Gb memory chip in it and that worked fine. HDMI playback onto a tv is good, but no sound for some reason. Probably the biggest snag is its not compatible with Android Market/Google Play, but I've always managed to find apps elsewhere.

1.0 out of 5 stars A tablet that will let you down most of the time!, 20 Sep 2012

An update resolved most of the really annoying failures of this tablet's obsolete screen; lucky enough, I would otherwise have thrown it through the window long ago out of sheer despair! With no access to the android market, it makes you feel like a big fool anyway. Most of the times, elemental downloadings as youtube videos or internet links just won't work though I'm not the kind to take failure messages for answers! Audio wise, it really sounds good but you'ce got to wake it up from some big slumber every time you feel the need to find out any basic information about artist/title...

I looked about for weeks, before deciding on this Ziio tablet. I originally bought a Furious 7",but this lasted 7 days before going off with a bang, needless to say, I was a bit put off by the idea of buying a tablet after that, then I noticed this Beauty! A real Branded Tablet, extremely well made and feels nice and robust in your hand. The "Resistive" screen is a dream, it may not be multi-touch, but I can live with that, as its got features other tablets, of a higher price don't.
I bought my 8GB version direct from Creatives online store for £109!(was £199)inclusive of P+P. They are also selling the exclusive online 16gb for £179 (was £219). There are a few updates to firmware and software available as soon as you power them up and connect, takes a few minutes to get going, but after that you're away! Really Excellent Kit!!

2.0 out of 5 stars hopeless for Apps, 6 Jan 2012

I think for the basics of music and video, this tablet works well. I've not had too much experience of "hanging" as others have had. However, when buying an Android tablet I did NOT expect to not be locked out of the Android Market to get the apps. I have to get them on GetJar, they often don't download, and it takes forever to get them to work (like, I can spend whole evenings at this trying to work it out). The real shocker (one of the reasons that I bought the tablet) is that Skype does not work. I can get it to work without video but it turns out that Android 2.2 only supports a rear-facing camera and this blinking thing has only a front facing camera (which was one of the reasons I bought it, thinking it would be great for Skype) so it's all pretty hopeless. I'm not clear how another reviewer said that Skype works as I've got an e-mail from their support team in December telling me that it won't work. And I can't get a number for Creative in Ireland to call this Norbert guy to find out.

I wish they were more honest and clear about what you can expect from this. The stuff in their own Creative App store is mostly totally useless fluff. It's definitely not worth £150 unless you don't want any apps at all and just want to use it for playing media.

Build quality, looks and size wise it's really nice though. Now I use it for internet radio and listening to podcasts and it's good for that, but a bit pricey really for the simple things. For that stuff it has good battery life too. Their support team do respond to e-mails but it's mostly to tell you that nothing works on it.

I bought it when its price was lowered to 140 pounds and I'm quite satisfied of my purchase. Definitely it's probably not as good as the latest tablets but for that price you'll have a nice entertainmet device - music, videos, pictures, internet. You don't have access to android market, but the integrated Zii applications for playing media are good enough. The player is even able to play MKV files using their integrated subtitles. If its own web browser does not satisfy your needs, you can use the Zee Store to get Firefox. Even better, Opera Mobile works quite fast on it and is very stable. Youtube works just fine. Flash Player can be installed from Creative's support site. It came with Amazon's applications, including Kindle. It also contains its own e-book reader named ZiiAcademy. You may encounter some stability issues but a simple restart resolves such a problems. As always Creative's devices are outputing high quality audio, so ZiiO is not an exception. I really prefer something made by Creative in comparison with the new chinese brands like Prestigio, so I highly recommend this device.

4.0 out of 5 stars Recently added firmware update makes this a good buy, 21 Aug 2011

The latest firmware update allows users of this tablet to use Skype (you need to download this free from a site on the web which Amazon will not let me name but the URL can be obtained from Norbert at Creative's Dublin help line. This adds to what is a very good tablet for the money. It has good audio and video attributes and is solidly constructed. The screen although not capacitive is just about as responsive although it does not have the multi-touch feature allowing easy zooming in and out. Battery life is reasonable but not up to the best. I have found it easier to use than a tablet running on Android 3.2.
There remains the issue of not being able to access Android market one can only hope that Amazon will in the near future allow access to their Android appstore to those unfortunate enough to live outside G'sOC.
Three negative things I have found:
1. Access to the external sd card is not totally reliable.
2. Twice it has hung when I have switched on bluetooth.
3. It claims the preloaded video player can't play flv files (the type that can be downloaded from youtube). It plays them very well except you have to get rid of the notice saying that it is an incompatible file type by pressing the go back button. I have mentioned this to technical support but they insist that it can't play the files.

I bought this because I was looking at a Kindle but wanted a bit more out of a tablet. I don't like Apple' restrictive approach to Apps and over priced hardware, and because I usually like Creative products I went for the Ziio.
As I expected, the hardware build quality is up to Creative's usual standard as is the leather case. Problems are with the operating system. It's supposed to accept a 16Gb micro SD card, the best I've got it to recognize so far is 4Gb, and then it has to be formated several times before it will work. To make matters worse, give it more than 2 or 3 tasks at a time it slows down so much it freezes and all you can do is leave it for an hour or two, after which time you may be able to turn it off - nothing more, just turn it off. As with all this type of touchscreen I like a screen protector. At £8 a go for a few pence of plastic (+ another few quid if you want to be ripped off for delivery from Creative direct), it feels as if Creative are now taking Apple's lead on overpricing their goods.
All that aside, the biggest flaw is restricting you to Creative own 'shop' to get your Apps. There aren't that many and even fewer that are worth having. Even downloading Kindle, which seems to be available for every device nowadays, was a pig of a job from a third party website. This tablet desperately needs Android Market and for that reason alone I would not recommend it. Until Creative include Android Market in the basic package or a firmware upgrade, save your money and go for a cheaper Chinese tablet instead.
