If you cannot afford an apple please dont be dissapointed with this kindle fire HD 16/32 mbThis product is just as good and just as handy, it is compact and just the right size for most of youfavioute apps, it has a quick procesor to start up, has plenty of storage for free but if needs more than a small fee each month will not break the bank. It has become a second item in my handbag, next to the phone, but it has most features that a phone can have except the call in voice , but for sype and taking pics, to uploading and downloading files could not be easier. It also comes with calender, and organizer features, if it does not have the app then just brouse and you will find most of what you are looking for. the only drawback I found is the american voice to speach it can be grating on the nerves after a period of time, but hay what do we expect from something that is half the price and does the job.
grab one while you can
It has a wide range of accessories available, at half the cost of apples, so this is a handy addition.

so easy to use, neat little tablet bought for an 11 year old, only downside is that I have to add my credit card for her to download free games. Thought I could even pick up gift card but even these are about £30. 4.0 out of 5 stars great gadget, 11 Jan 2013

This was a great, unexpected Christmas gift. I love the fact that you can carry all your books around so easily and makes reading so much better. The font is crystal clear and it is better to handle than a book. The downside for me is that the battery life is so short, mine only manages about 6 hours (even without being connected to wi-fi). Does anyone else experience this. or do I have a faulty Kindle Fire? 3.0 out of 5 stars Good but had a problem, 11 Jan 2013

I bought this as a gift for my girlfriend at christmas. Worked fine and it still does work fine except ... I CAN'T CHARGE IT ANYMORE!The charger actually blew up and was lucky to not catch fire. The product still works fine and my girlfriend is still in love with it, but she now has to use an old blackberry charger to keep her kindle charged.
The kindle itself is very good and very nice looking. The only problem I found was the charger blowing up and how it has adverts everytime you unlock the screen.
other than this, great product.

As an owner of a Kindle touch, I was already sold on the idea of binning my books and taking all my books with me wherever I went ....so when the KIndle Fire came along for £99 on Black Friday (less than my Kindle Touch) it seemed to be a no brainer. I did research the device - my only concern was screen glare for which the Kindle Touch was faultless) and battery life (we all want our old Nokia 6310's back !!). Anyway, not many comments out there about screen glare and battery life seemed to be consistent with whats expected of any colour device (esp as usage may not be just for reading a book)So, I have had the Kindle Fire now for about 6 weeks and must say I am not in the least disappointed. Sure, the user interface is not an iPad ...but its just matter of getting used to something else. I am in my 40's but do like my gadgets and found that I got to grips with its functionality really quickly.
The Kindle Fire has a much better reading interface than the straight Kindle readers. Its nice to have a picture of the book rather than just a title...and they can be sorted into different views. I also really like that you can see what is on the 'Cloud' and what is on your device. One downside is that you cannot get a book description (back cover) of each book ...something Amazon need to review across the range of readers
I did buy it primarily as a reader and thats why I wouldn't compare it with the iPad and other more powerful devices. That said, there are a number of features that make the device stand out over the reading only Kindles.
1. Access to the internet - browsing is good and the screen size is not an issue (bearing in mind it is only a 7" screen)
2. Applications give me what I want - Facebook and email apps are good and there are a number of games to relieve periods of boredom. For the fanatics out there, the library is a long way behind Apple and other Andriod devices but am sure that will improve with time.
3. I can now listen to music easily with a decent interface and am making use of the free Cloud facility to download 250 songs that I had on iTunes.
There is some concern about the device just being a shop front to Amazon - perhaps it is to an extent but you are not limited to Amazon content .... and is it any different to Apple.
Back to my concerns - screen glare ....yes there is some ...but its not bad and can be read in bright light (though I have bought an anti-glare screen protector to help out a little more Fimir 100% bubble free Guaranteed Anti-Glare Screen Protector film Mask IMP66B (Black), for the 2nd and 1st gen 7" Amazon Kindle Fire Tablet: non-compatible with 7" or 8.9" HD version..
Battery life - its not bad ...I use the device daily, not always just for reading .... it needs charging every 3-4 days. Its never turned off either.
Overall, I'd recommend this device ...but you need to know what you want it for and what to expect. At a third of the price it is not going to be an iPad replacement but if it does what you need then look no further !

Bought this for my partner for Christmas and she adores it. It fits in many pockets (eg those in combats, or inside pockets in some jackets). It's just big enough for the screen to be comfortable, but not so bulky that it's a pain to carry about. Only complaint is that Amazon sends it in a box with 'KINDLE FIRE' emblazoned on the side - not ideal in the run up to Christmas when the other half is the person signing for the parcel. Get your head screwed on, Amazon - if it's being sold in December, its *probably a present* in which case, be a bit smarter with the packaging.
