I decided to buy this tablet as a little xmas present to myself and as a helpful little gadget. I did a bit of research online before ordering and the main points of the reviews made by various tech websites were that it was slow in terms of response/loading times (using apps etc) but for the price it was an extremely good bargain - especially considering the 250GB of memory. My tablet arrived in the post and I started charging it straight away. After a few hours I wanted to play about with it so I could get the setup etc out of the way but IT WOULDN'T SWITCH ON charging light was on at all times). Left it charging for a few more hours, STILL WOULD NOT SWITCH ON. Left it charging until the next day, AGAIN WOULD NOT SWITCH ON. So I googled the problem and found that NOT SWITCHING ON WAS AN EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM. The solutions suggested online were to let it charge up to full power and it would switch itself on. After about 30 hours, it switched itself on but AFTER A 30 HOUR CHARGE IT ONLY REGISTERED A 28% BATTERY CHARGE. Again, a common problem and in fact MANY OWNERS HAVE TO CONSTANTLY FACTORY RESET THE TABLET BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T SWITCH ON, CAUSING THE TABLET TO ERASE ANY APPS AND USER PREFERENCE SETTINGS. Bottom line, these tablets are very hit and miss. People lucky enough to obtain a working tablet are very happy but it seems to me that its a lottery - the quality control is generally poor. NEEDLESS TO SAY, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR WITH A CHEAP TABLET LIKE THIS - YOU'RE BETTER OFF SPENDING A BIT MORE MONEY BUYING SOMETHING MORE RELIABLE FROM A COMPANY WITH A PROVEN TRACK RECORD.

This is great for a MP3/4 player great for the odd game
If you want an ipad mini replacement get an ipad mini NOT this
The graphics are ok not the best on games and very lumpy
the MP3/4 interface is really easy and clean to use
The stand is flimsy and i think will break after a few trips
but as other pads dont have this anyway not a problem
Archos Android system very dated but can be updated with a few tweaks (check online)

For such a cheap little pad this really is a thing of wonder
the 250gb hard drive is a bit slow but can fit sooooo much on it
The touch screen very nice onpar with ipad sound is very loud and clear but vibrates at max volume
the screen and screen surround are impossible to keep clean
i picked mine up and the finger prints on edge started
Teathering on my iphone DOES NOT WORK even though i can teather my laptop
NO GPS /NO standard Market place
Camera is worthless maybe vga
Watching films on it very clear and vibrant

THE PROBLEM I HAD

I OWNED MY ARCHOS FOR 2 DAYS THATS TWO DAYS AND THE THING KEPT TURNING OFF AND ON OFF AND ON
And had to be sent back
the sellers couldnt do enough for me and have been very helpful indeed
They are paying for postage back to them
and replacing mine without any moans or trying to wriggle out of it
THAT IS GREAT
But Archos please pull your bl**dy finger out with
updates to Android to get inline with other pads on the market
I know its cheap but cheap should not mean CRAP

For the short time i had this i loved it

But build quality needs to be better

All in all would i buy this again???????

had this now for nearly 12 months hard drive is great, taken on a recent trip to spain battery life is no were near the 8 hours running time, more like 3, finds it hard to turn on when cold or left for sometime, in a word over priced

The biggest load of rubbish you will ever buy. I was one of Archos biggest fans until buying this load of rubbish. Bought it mainly for taking on holiday instead of a laptop, or I Pad. Had it less than a year, used it twice as soon as I started to use it became aware of its meagre capability compared with an I Pad ( or even an I Pod ) which I resorted to whilst on holiday. It has now given up the ghost, will not charge, or turn on. On the two occasions I did use it , would discharge, and need constantly recharging.
Has turned me off ever buying Archos again.

I thought I'd write a follow up review on this product. After owning it for just over a year - which means out of warranty by a couple of months- the tablet developed a fault with a frozen screen which I couldn't fix with the usual reboot etc. So I contacted Archos to see if they would repair it for a fee as it was obviously out of warranty. Well - Archos informed me that they no longer repair these devices as it costs more to repair than replace!! But - they will give me 25% discount on a new product!! How's that for customer service? Seems like a good way to increase sales to me! So anyway, just be warned, if you buy an Archos product and it develops a fault out of warranty you're stuck with an expensive Table Mat!!

Come on Archos - Give customers a decent support service!

I bought this unit based on the 250gb hard drive, loads of music & videos could be stored, unfortunately the connection between device and PC got lost, the unit then became unable to access the hard drive, I tried all options to recover but to no avail, I asked Arhos for suggestions. Archos took the unit back and replaced it, but a similar situation arose when transferring files and the device believed it was connected via USB to a PC even when it wasn't and hard drive unaccessable again, tried all restore options again to no avail. Archos replaced again, this 3rd unit became obsessed with updating the media library, taking 45 minutes to do so when device started up, so unit was impossibly slow to use, Archos suggested reinstalling the operating system, after which the unit could not be seen by a PC. I contacted Advance Mp3 Players this time and they were happy to replace it with a device of my choice.
I may have been unlucky, but I cannot recommend this device.I would recommend Advanced mp3 Players as a place to buy as they were extremely courteous throughout.

Although there is mixed reviews ive had my tablet for a few months and have had no problems with it.I'm not really computer savvy but that doesn't matter,its virtually child proof.the screen is perfect for movies and gaming,and the storage space is great.for what this product can do I'm amazed at the price.brilliant.!!

I bought this for my wife as a present. Now I wish I had bought it for myself. Its very good loads of fun you can download loads of aps, very pleased with it. Amazon delivery was very good as usual.

Not compatible with google play or anything else really.

Slow and unresponsive and makes every task twice as complicated as it need to be.
