Well, still getting used to what this tablet can do. Plays films from micro sd card perfectly. Sends photos via wifi with no problems.
Takes pin sharp pictures, with excellent colours. Plays quality music from either internal memory or micro sd card.
Great pity it didn't come with more basic free apps to start with, that would allow you to play any format recorded music. Oh.. also had to buy separately a case to keep it in.
Otherwise, good price and good quality. For me..much better than the vastly overpriced ipads / blackberry's etc.

I really do like this machine. Everything it says on the box it does and plenty more besides, haven't found the coffee dispenser button yet but as an addition to my desktop computer I can't fault it. I read the instructions before doing anything else and followed them to the letter. It works well with my Xperia smartphone transferring data via Bluetooth although I'm having a few problems connecting it to Windows 8 on my desktop, the computer does not 'recognise' the Archos. I expect, given time, I'll overcome that small problem. Battery life is excellent, on an average day it uses less than twenty per cent of the battery. USB connection with the desktop is good, transferring data via USB, a piece of cake. The pre-installed programs most of which I have deleted were not for me. Wherever I am in the house or garden there is no problem connecting to my Internet connection, I have not tried it away from home. I'm a bit disappointed with the camera which faces towards the operator but with a camera on my Xperia and also several digital cameras it's no real problem. I like the attached stand, handy when reading books. The 'touch screen' is very sensitive and responds in seconds. I have set up the email program to accept all my accounts. It connects with my Palm TX via Bluetooth and I download diabetes records direct from the Bayer Contour blood test device to the Archos. It's a desktop computer in a pocket and because it measures only 41/2" by 8" it will fit into an overcoat pocket. Great machine, well worth the cost. One satisfied customer.

I bought this tablet because it was very cheap and had both very good marks or very bad ones.
If you are happy to spend a little time updating and customising this excellent little tablet, you will give it 5 stars. If however, you just start it up and run with what you have, then you will probably be disappointed. Google how to update your Archos tablet and follow easy, precise instructions. If you go to the applib (store) and download Arctools (free version), you can then upgrade the firmware to android Ice cream sandwich and have access to all google apps. You have now doubled the worth of your tablet.

Love my wee tablet. Had seen it in Carphone Warehouse, set my heart on it. Went and got it and it was out of stock everywhere. Didn't think I'd get in anyway. Was pleased when I purched it from here. Was a fast delivery also

I primarily bought this to show my pictures off at trade fairs. It takes a bit of getting used to and has quirks, that as a PC user, I am now getting used to. All in all, though, for the price this is a great little tablet - but to be honest I've not used it in anger yet. The only downside I have found so far, is that it struggles to connect to the internet/email when establishing a new connection - but once it settles down, it's fine. Be careful of some of the Apps in the Apps Market - many are flakey and no way up to itunes apps, Android have a long way to go on this I think. But I'm not an Apps monster, so it's not really a problem for me. Great for the price - would recommend.

1st I don't own one of these but I really would like to compared with the expense of the i pad or Samsung. I would like to know if I can use a dongel as my internet?
I don't have broad band at home I use my laptop with a wireless dongel which I top up with credit, I have no idea when it comes to the tablets, I understand all the other things people are on about ie apps ect I have a galaxy 2 phone. Also does this tablet have Bluetooth and front camera? Cburton789@googlemail.com for answers to help me and my daughter out thanks

Although this is a very nice device Amazon is selling its successor, the 70b, for a lower price. The 70b is quicker, has got twice as much RAM, twice as many screen pixels and runs a much better version of Android (3.2). I wouldnt touch the original 70 unless they more than half the price.

Upsides:
A real bargain for the money (£99.99 at carphone warehouse DEC'11)
The appslib is a waste of time so look on google for the full blown android market .apk you can install takes about 3 minutes and a restart to get android marketplace access.
Havent found any APPS it refuses to load.
Make sure you do a software update as soon as you get it.

Downsides:
Can be a little slow (if you compare against something thats 5* the price :-) ) at APP load time, but once loaded the APPS all run smoothly - kids love the games which all work well (so far)
No free AC3 support for .mkv files (cinema plugin available on archos website for £8 per unit) but must get round to trying BSPlayer with ARMv6/7 HW accelerator which may plug the gap.
Other video playback, .avi and .mp4 are perfect.
