What a marvellous device! Once you get the hang of it, you will find that downloading apps and books are a one-click operation.
If you are not bothered about your android having a camera or mobile phone the Kindle Fire is for you. Be prepared to recharge it often, however.

The description suggested that this was a full tablet, with internet access etc. It was to be used for buying books from Amazon, but also for borrowing library books. Although ordinary Kindles don't support this, the description of the Kindle Fire led me to understand that the necessary software could be downloaded. This is not the case. As this is being marketed at a tablet, it should be made very clear in the description that there are restrictions on what software can be downloaded. This was a Christmas present and was a BIG disappointment. I'm now having to pay postage to return it and it's not clear whether the recipient will be able to get a refund for the book he bought and downloaded but hasn't started reading yet. I feel conned, and very disappointed with Amazon.

I am extremely happy with the Kindle but disappointed that I cannot download games or apps due to the fact that I live in Cyprus. I fail to understand why anyone living in a region outside the list of supported areas cannot be offered the same services. I would not recommend the Kindle to someone else because of this problem.

The 8GB kindle fire HD is being returned unopened as I did not fully recognise at the point of purchase that I was buying something of a different size to fit with a special offer price.........I have to say I also was hoping that the special offer would be for a kindle fire HD 16GB but discovered on arrival it was just 8GB - that will teach me to read up on the spec more carefully before I hit "buy"

The kindle fire promised so much but sadly just has not met the hype. Having watched the Guardian reviewer on youtube compare the ipad mini and the kindle fire HD next to each other I was very happy to make the purchase. I thought I was getting a great product but I was very wrong.

I have purchased another 16GB kindle fire HD as a gift and all manor of problems there too......not taking a charge effectively, loosing battery life over less that an hour, when it promises an 11 hour life (not in use the whole time either) and the best one yet - not switching on. It has been bitterly disappointing. Bitterly!!! I will be looking for an alternative tablet to purchase and it will be from a shop as dealing with issue via e-mail and telephone has been frustrating as well. Sorry amazon I have a good 'old fashioned' kindle (minus keyboard) that I love but the kindle fire HD needs a lot of work before I would consider parting with my hard earned cash again.

Love it. Cant work out how to get " free " books though as it appears you have to sign up and then pay £49 a year !!!!!!! or buy them !!!!!

My son absolutely love, love, loves his new Fire. Although it's not HD the screen is crystal clear, he has downloaded games, some books and we have attached it to our Lovefilm account. The only problems I have found is that the books I bought him for Christmas on my Kindle couldn't be transferred to his Fire and this wasn't stated anywhere beforehand so I had to get a refund and then re-buy them from his Fire and the parental controls aren't good enough really so he has access to all the films on Lovefilm - although this might be because I haven't found the right control yet. Other then that I am soooo impressed with the Fire, it's awesome!!
