Having owned this tv for several months now, I decided to write a review because it was only after i trawled through forums for answers to my problems that I became happy. After the initial wow factor of buying a 60" tv, I have to say I was a little disappointed; Most of the time the picture was great but in some scenes I experienced white speckles in the picture and the picture was often very grainy/pixellated (especially in darker scenes in greens, browns and blacks) even when playing blu-ray. The picture also gave the appearance of flickering in certain scenes.
It turns out that the tv basically ships with awful settings, some of which aren't adjustable initially.
To rectify these problems, you need to use the "Picture Wizard II" found in the "Picture" section of the menu. Simply follow the on-screen instructions. **NOTE** start by selecting the "standard" option rather than "preferred". This is essential because the root cause of the pixellation issue is down to the dynamic contrast, which can't be turned completely off if you start off with the "preferred" setting. Also don't over-sharpen the picture. The settings you've selected should now be saved as "Expert1"
Once you've done that you're almost there but you need to go back into the picture menu to change a couple of other things: Firstly the "intelligent sensor"; it really isn't that intelligent and is the cause of the flickering. You should now be able to turn this off and I recommend that you do so. Next, you need to go to the "expert settings" option a bit further down the menu. Turn dynamic contrast to "off", black level should be on "low", I found the picture better with "Colour gamut" set to "wide", "Edge Enhancer" doesn't do much but should be off for blu-ray and see what the difference is with SD content - I just leave mine off permanently.
I think that's it for the tv but please note that whatever device you're using to provide a picture should also be set up properly. I bought the Panasonic DMP120 dvd/blu ray player which is also a 5* product but needs similar effort to be set up correctly. As a rule of thumb, if it sounds like it will make the picture better, it probably makes it worse.
In case you haven't read the full specs, the tv is 600Hz sub field drive and has 24p compatibility, which means judder and motion blur are kept to a minimum, especially when playing blu rays.
Once it's set up correctly, the tv is stunning. Blacks could always be blacker in my view but they are very good and this tv is a bargain that rivals much more expensive tvs. How else are you going to get a 60" 1080p tv for under £800? Superb.

Ooming and ahhring for years as to when to purchase a 50" monster..So bought from Amazon warehouse deals for £469 and took delivery a couple of days later - thanks Amazon for speedy delivery again. TV is in as new condition, all leads packaged up, screen protecter in place etc. Wrong power lead sent but Amazon refunded £5 for the inconvenience. Well what can I say, for the money you cant beat it. Bought purely on the strength of the other reviews here, and online (what hifi, trusted reviews - you know - you have already read them!)
Pros - Picture quality (especially in HD, connectivity options, style (thin bezel), sheer size - its huge, sound quality - perfectly adequate for a family TV, unless you are an enthusiast. Cons - very shiny screen almost mirror like! Power consumption was a concern with the plasma, however the TV comes with a power setting which you can use to reduce brightness - I am using the STD setting which saves 30% consumption (of 130W) - so around 80W which is comparable to LED TVs of the same size.
I wasn't interested in 3D. Nor was I interested in smart features as if and when I decide on a blu-ray player all that will come with anyway. Looking around at this price point you'd struggle to find another competitor that offers the razor bezel full HD experience!

worth every penny, only crib is that daylight and lights can cause my lightly painted wall to reflect on screen, can see pictures on wall etc behind me. So at least no one can sneak up on me. Solution is to have no lights staright in front of screen 5.0 out of 5 stars excellent TV, 5 Feb 2013

Fantastic TV. Picture quality is crystal clear on hd channels and pretty good on sd channels too. Very rich and deep colours and nice deep blacks. Very easy setup only needed a slight tweak out of the box. Very slim for a plasma and nice stylish bezel. Slight reflection on panel but im pretty sure you'd get that on any plasma. All in all an unbelievably good big screen for under £500 and if your happy not to have 3D , YOU WONT FIND BETTER FOR THIS PRICE!

After reading and talking to friends and family they all said choose LG as they have a good record in this industry, how true this is the TV is great .I may be nit picking to why the cable and wires are spaced apart which is fiddly when tieing in the wires for a neater finish.Over all no promblems. 0 of 1 people found the following review helpful

For the price this is a very good 60 inch plasma tv. Good colours and sharp picture, ok black levels. If your reading this as part of the LG 50PA650T (which amazon group into one), this does not represent as much of a bargain. The Samsung LE51E450 is a better option than the LG at 50 odd inches, price is similar but black levels and colour vibrancy are far superior. There's simply more pop to the image on the Samsung. However the LG does perform better in bright room viewing conditions as the contrast doesn't washout as much as the Samsung.
As for the 60 inches, for this price, there is very little competition, and represents a good buy. However if you were going to be critical, the black levels on the LG are it's weakest trait.
How you view the black levels are largely subjective, and probably depends on what tv technology or how old your previous TV was, most will probably perfectly happy with the black levels. For example the black levels are superior to that of a 7 year old Pioneer plasma and my 5 year old Toshiba LCD (both highly regarded at the time), but are far worst than current Sony LEDs and Panasonic Plasmas. The Plasma being better than LCD argument is not always true, and quality varies widely between manufacturers.
On top of the range sets black levels are deep inky blacks, indistinguishable from the tv bezel. The LG's black levels are quite far off from a pure black. If you watch a lot of tv in a dark room this could be a bigger issue, but generally speaking I find the black levels acceptable. If you've never seen other top of the range plasmas/leds you probably won't even realise what your missing out on.
On a final note, this tv was recently reviewed in What Hifi and was given 4 out of 5 stars, claiming natural colours but wishy washy blacks and off-color whites.
It represents a good bargain, at least until the budget range of panasonic 60 inch plasmas become available on British shores.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great value screen, but beware buzz and SPDIF lag, 23 Jan 2013

I'm no expert on screens but this seems very good to me, once you have adjusted the settings. At first I was alarmed at the brightness level flicking up and down automatically, and poor black levels, both very noticeable when watching in a dark room. It would have been going straight back to Amazon, but after switching off eco-mode and playing with the many picture settings, both these problems were fixed and I'm very happy with it.I have two complaints which knock my review down from five stars to four.
Firstly, there is an high-frequency buzz from the rear of the screen. It is only audible when watching at low volume levels, and I decided it was acceptable (it's no louder than the buzz from the light dimmer switch on the wall, I was already putting up with that). I think all TVs buzz at some level. This one is louder than my old 32" LG LCD set though.
Perhaps more importantly, there is a noticeable lag in audio via the SPDIF digital output, which causes an annoying lip-sync problem. I have a freesat box and PC plugged into HDMI inputs, and a surround sound amp plugged into the SPDIF output from the TV. This arrangement doesn't really work due to the audio lag. Both the freesat box and the PC have SPDIF outputs - if I plug either straight into the amp, the lag disappears. But that isn't very convenient when I want to switch inputs. If there is an easy way to fix this problem please comment below.
Overall though, this is a good buy at this price.

Purchased this TV from Currys/PC World for £450 which is a bargain price. Setting up i would recommend using the advanced settings as the eco setting gets annoying once you start noticing the changing in brightness every 5 to 10 seconds. The picture can look a little washed once you have setup using either a dvd or the internal setup features, though after some tweaking i have managed to get it as good as i can and i'm very pleased (believe in your own eyes). The sound is pretty good much better than my last flat screen TV. My only gripe is the reflection from the screen but its not majorFor £450 what can i say its pretty much perfect, no smart features but its not like i need them when every other PVR, Console, Blu ray play and streamer comes with these functions anyway and for not having a 3D function i would never use it anyway.
