Bought direct from Humax - not Amazon - but just want to warn people what a shocking piece of kit this is. Poor picture quality, image skips and buzzing started to come out of the TV audio after a few hours of use... I'm sending back for a refund. 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent purchase, 12 Mar 2013

This is our second Humax as we found the first one such a simple and intuitive machine that we decided to link a second one to our other TV. Very uncomplicated to activate record function, find recorded programmes and pause live TV - would thoroughly recommend. 5.0 out of 5 stars Humax PVR-9300T, 6 Mar 2013

I am 100% happy with this Humax. Have been using it for just 1 month now and have had no problems at all. Connection took 2 mins and it searched for all freeview channels. The instruction manual is quite easy to follow and i have applied some useful settings i.e. adding 'most watched' channels to favourites groups etc. It is a doddle to set it to record programmes and i like the 'programme series' option (to record all programmes in a series). It can record programmes in standby mode. Picture quality is excellent. There is no noise from cooling fan.Remote is well designed and simple to use. So far i have 95 recorded programmes stored to watch including films and it has used 121.1 GB of 499.7 GB leaving 74.1% of hard drive free. I have connected it to DVD recorder to record to disc with no problem. The volume control on the remote is non-functional to my standard definition tv (connected via scart lead). I believe that the supplied HDD connector lead connected to a tv with HDD socket should then work. Thus i have to use my tv remote to adjust volume which is no real problem. Signal detection strength in menu/system shows quality 100% and signal strength 81% (in my location). I have set it to recieve automatic OTA software updates when broadcast but so far none recieved. Altogether a very excellent PVR. I would recommend this. 5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use, 5 Mar 2013

It was purchased for my elderly mother as it is easy to use. Ideal.Very pleased with product. I was surprised in the lack of packaging when it arrived and the box wasn't sealed but everything was there and all working.

I bought this when analogue was faded out as I like to record programmes which I would otherwise miss. I have these major complaints:About 20% of the time it fails to record at all, sometimes for a series where it has recorded previously but just decides not to function although scheduled to record.
I previously had an excellent Panasonic HDD/DVD recorder but it was analogue and can no longer be programmed, although I can use it to record live a programme I am watching (only worth doing if I want a DVD). It was possible to turn it on to run for a set time (e.g. three hours) which would ensure that everything on a channel would be recorded, thus ensuring that minor programme rescheduling would not cause a programme to be missed. There is no such facility with the Humax.
While it can, if you remember, be programmed to start/finish up to five minutes from the schedule this is not the same. Apparently there is "auto tracking", which is supposed to overcome this but the manual does not tell you how to activate it and online comments are pretty scathing about it.
I am in my seventies, not a complete novice, but all I want is a machine that works properly. The manual offers an enormous number of options in which I am not interested and is badly written and in places incoherent unless you are a tech wizard.
So, I am still using it (because I need a converter to digital) but am planning to replace it, possibly going to a SKY satellite. MY STRONG ADVICE TO ANYONE WHO WANTS A RELIABLE RECORDER IS NOT TO BUY IT.

Very easy to install and came with a free scart lead as well! Mum found it easy to use (was worried that I may be called upon as technical assistant, but she has cracked it without my help)! 3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, 24 Feb 2013

This is decent enough... it does what it is supposed to and does not crash like my old recorder used to. The main thing I do not like about it is the readability of the menus... it is quite hard to see at a glance what you have recorded, and there are some really annoying features, like how difficult it is to cancel a recording once you have already set it up. Also we have found at times that the recorder mysteriously deletes our recording schedule every now and then, so we will miss a favourite programme and have to re- set up the schedule. It's a decent price but next time I will probably shop around for another model. 0 of 6 people found the following review helpful
